Business Continuity Planning

There are many situations in today’s world that could close your law firm or affect its reputation. As the global pandemic continues to impact the current business landscape around the world, law firm leaders are looking at their business continuity and risk management programs to determine current and future risks to their firms and help make vital business decisions.

In this session, we will discuss business continuity and pandemic planning and the steps that your firm can take now to protect your employees, make informed business decisions about the best working environment for your firm, and ensuring organizational resiliency and profitability.

Firms will want to consider continuing to have a remote work environment while also phasing back to an office work setting, conducting Business Impact Assessments (BIA’s), the future of providing services to clients, risk management and compliance issues, and creating comprehensive written business continuity plans and testing those plans.

Learning objectives:

  • Discuss the types of disasters that could affect your law firm’s reputation;
  • Review professional responsibilities of lawyers and law firms for Disaster Preparedness and Business Continuity as defined by the ABA’s Formal Ethics Opinions;
  • Review Operational, Financial and Reputational Resiliency planning for law firms in the current pandemic environment. This includes discussing piecing together the best working environment for your law firm moving forward to keep your firm resilient;
  • Identify the essential components necessary for a comprehensive Business Continuity Program for your law firm.
