The ALA SVC LinkedIn Group is a networking resource for members of the Association of Legal Administrators and ALA Silicon Valley Chapter, as well as current ALASVC business partners during their term of sponsorship, and others interested in professional legal management.

Business Partners must be active and in good standing, upon payment of annual sponsorship registration as of August 1. Once membership or sponsorship has been terminated, users will be removed from the LinkedIn Group.

The purpose of the LinkedIn group is for sharing information related to legal management and can be used to solicit best practices and ask legal management-related questions from your fellow chapter members and business partners. Questions related to billing rates, compensation, or other rates are strictly prohibited from discussion according to ALA guidelines to avoid violating antitrust/price-fixing laws. RESTRICTED ACCESS: This discussion group was established for the exclusive use of ALA Silicon Valley Chapter members and current business partners. Members are given access to the discussion group upon verification of their membership or sponsorship.

DISCUSSION GROUP GUIDELINES: The Chapter wants to protect the rights of all of our LinkedIn Group users, to comply with copyrights and other regulations, and to prevent violations of the law. Therefore, by participating in the ALA Silicon Valley Chapter LinkedIn Group, you agree to abide by the following guidelines:

  • The forum should adhere to the highest standards of professional and personal conduct, etiquette, and decorum. This is a discussion group where opinions are welcome but challenging or attacking others is not allowed. Users should refrain from defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive or illegal materials.
  • The forum should not be used for advertising. Tips and recommendations about products and services are welcome – this is exactly the type of networking advice our group of leaders in our industry can benefit from -- but this group should not be used for direct marketing, selling, and “commercials.”
  • The forum must refrain from topics that could be construed to violate antitrust laws. Messages should not be posted if they encourage or facilitate members to arrive at any agreement that either expressly or impliedly leads to price fixing, a boycott of another’s business or other conduct that is intended to illegally restrict free trade.

For example, messages that encourage or facilitate an agreement about the following subjects are not allowed: prices, rates, discounts, terms or conditions of sale, salaries, profits, profit margins or cost data, market shares, sales territories or markets, allocation of customers or territories, or selection, rejection, or termination of customers or suppliers.

The Chapter does not actively monitor the LinkedIn Group for inappropriate postings nor undertakes editorial control of postings. However, in the event that an inappropriate posting is brought to the Chapter's attention, appropriate action will be taken. The Chapter reserves the right to terminate access, without notice, to any user who does not abide by these guidelines.

TO JOIN: (1) Sign into your profile at, (2) click the Work icon in the top right of your LinkedIn homepage and select Groups from the drop down, (2) In the Search box, type "Association of Legal Administrators - Silicon Valley Chapter," or click Discover at the top of the page to view suggested groups, and (3) Request membership by clicking the Ask to join button under the group description.

TO POST: (1) Sign into your profile at, (2) go to the Work icon and select Groups, then My Groups, then the SVC group, and (3) enter a short discussion title, add some details about your post/questions and a link to an article, if you have one.
